Whether through dance or drama, literature or the
spoken word, music, painting, or sculpture – the arts in these
and their myriad of other forms are powerful tools for learning.
The arts have a liberating effect on students, through creation
and reflection. They make fundamental learning concepts tangible
and their conclusions relevant. The arts build self-esteem and foster
positive attitudes toward learning that contribute to success in
all academic areas.
Arts in Education (AIE) Residency funding has assisted hundreds
of Pennsylvania schools to enrich the important work of arts educators,
support curricula and provide additional opportunities for students
to discover and develop their creative abilities. The program provides
thousands of children and youth with models for dedication, discipline,
teamwork and goal setting, along with catalysts for intellectual
and emotional discovery. Learn more about the program and discover
how you can bring the power of the artist residency to your school.
Who is Eligible to Apply for AIE Residency Funding?
Pennsylvania schools, arts organizations, government agencies, local
arts agencies, institutions of higher education and other not-for-profit,
tax-exempt organizations are eligible for residency funding.
How to Apply for Funding
Host organizations or schools submit applications for residency
funding by using the appropriate guidelines and application forms.
To apply, contact the AIE Partner
in your region. The regional AIE Partner-organizations assist schools
to coordinate and fund residencies in their service regions.
While potential applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for
AIE Residency funding through AIE
Partners, applicants may apply directly to the PCA for AIE Residency
funding. Those who live in regions of Pennsylvania that still remain
to be covered by an AIE Partner’s services should apply directly
to the PCA as well. Download the complete

How to Find a Resident Artist
Select the artist who meets the needs of your school or organization
and your students from the Directory of Pennsylvania Artists
in Education. The Directory is the annual list of
artists who have been accepted into the AIE Division. Each AIE Partner
maintains a regionalized version of the Directory, for
use in their service area. When you coordinate your residency through
an AIE Partner, you should also coordinate your artist selection
with the AIE Partner that serves your region.
Search for artists now using
the online version of the Directory.
To receive a print copy of your regionalized Directory contact the AIE Partner in
your area.
